Even if you heard this StarTalk Radio episode when it first ran earlier this year, you’ll want to hear this week’s new, extended version. Why? Because we’ve added 10 minutes of new material where Neil and Chuck are joined by Bill Nye the Science Guy and Elise Andrew of the very popular Facebook page, I F***ing Love Science, with over 19 million Likes.

As veteran science reporter Miles O’Brien tells Neil deGrasse Tyson and Chuck Nice, mainstream news organizations have been reducing their coverage of science.

But that’s not the whole story. The fact is that the Internet and social media is giving science the chance to reach out to people on its own.

Okay, science itself can’t do any reaching. But scientists can. Science organizations can. NASA can. The ESA can. And it is that point that Elise and Bill discuss with Neil and Chuck.

Elise skyped into our recording session the other day, and we’ll be adding 10 minutes of interviews with her and Bill to both extended parts of Reporting on Science, Part 1 this week, and Part 2 next week.

Miles O’Brien… Elise Andrew… Bill Nye the Science Guy… Neil deGrasse Tyson: There aren’t many places where you can find a more informed group of science journalists, communicators, educators, and scientists together in a single show.

Listen to Part 1 this Sunday, November 23 at 7:00 PM ET on our website, iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn and SoundCloud.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
