Tuesday, Neil Tyson and Chuck Nice Invite You to the StarTalk All-Stars Party

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to party with your favorite science rock stars?

Well you’re in luck. On this week’s episode of StarTalk All-Stars you’ll feel like a V.I.P. as you listen in on Neil deGrasse Tyson, comic co-host Chuck Nice, astrobiologist Dr. David Grinspoon, and astronaut Mike Massimino as they sing and laugh the night away during the “Leap Into Launch” party for StarTalk All-Stars.

The highlight of the episode is David’s performance of an “Astrobiologist’s Blues,” a song he co-wrote with Chuck Nice, that is surely to have you tapping your foot and singing along.

Along with the performance, you’ll hear our panel discuss “Ground Control,” an imperial stout beer by Ninkasi Brewing Company that is brewed with yeast grown in space – and also shown in the photo above.

You’ll hear about the Apollo 10 mission and how extremely close it was to landing on the moon, changing history forever. You’ll also hear how the Apollo 11 mission inspired some members of our panel to pursue a career in the sciences.

This leads to Neil explaining how the first time he went to the Hayden Planetarium, which he is now in charge of, he saw the stars and thought it was a hoax, until he realized it wasn’t, and forever became “star struck” by the universe.

David then reveals that during his childhood his father’s best friend was Carl Sagan and he talks about what it was like when “Uncle Carl” would stop by for a visit bringing the latest images from orbiters and satellites.

All this, plus, Neil tells the story about the first time he met Neil Armstrong aboard a “solar eclipse” cruise in 1973. A story which involves a “forest of telescopes tripods”, a very large ocean liner, and a small white lie Neil had to tell to get on the boat.

You can get the chance to come to our next StarTalk party by becoming a Patreon member!
