Tuesday, Dr. Helen Fisher and Chuck Nice Answer Cosmic Queries about Romance

This week on StarTalk All-Stars we’re back trying to unlock the secrets of love and romance. Dr. Helen Fisher, biological anthropologist and resident StarTalk love doctor, is back in the studio alongside comic co-host Chuck Nice to answer anything and everything about romance from virtual reality and sex robots to animal love rituals.

First off, Helen gives us the details on her brand-new neuroscience-based company, NeuroColor:

“Dr. Fisher’s discovery of the four broad brain systems underlying personality challenges the 100-year-old notion of “personality type” and how we think about work as individuals and organizations. NeuroColor uses this discovery to help individuals and teams create radical new opportunities for growth, development and diversity not previously possible with “personality type” assessments. A language of four colors is used to represent the four brain systems. This makes the science easy to translate into strategies that help clients understand how people work, communicate, contribute and make decisions.”

After that, we dive right into the fan-submitted Cosmic Queries, and per usual, our fans didn’t disappoint. You’ll hear about how the advancement of telecommunications has impacted love and romance and if virtual reality will ever play a factor in choosing a partner.

Explore the ways in which people are beginning new relationships: friends first, friends with benefits, and immediate romantic love. We discuss what rules apply for what type of relationship. You’ll find out more about the truth behind “playing hard to get.”

One of my favorite parts of the episode is when Helen discusses building our “love map” – how our past relationships influence our current and future relationships. Discover more about Artificial Intelligence and if future generations will date AI machines. When I think of this question, I immediately think of the movie Her. And if that’s any indication of how the future will be, well, it’ll be an interesting one.

Please join us tomorrow night for The Science of Love, with Helen Fisher at 7pm ET right here on our website, as well as on our All-Stars channels on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Stitcher, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
