The Awesome Con Science Fair presented by Science Channel will create a platform inside Washington, DC’s largest pop culture event to promote science with representatives from the country’s leading scientific institutions and outlets including Science Channel, NASA, and the Smithsonian Institution, together creating new awareness in all things nerdy, techy, and smart.

The Science Fair presented by Science Channel will feature a pavilion within Awesome Con’s show floor where attendees can get up close with small inventors and companies exploring new scientific horizons, and its dedicated programming track will showcase three days of educating, entertaining, and thought-provoking talks. Topics include Bad Space Weather: The Perils of Space Travel; Sci-Fi’s Lessons for the iPhone Age; Debunking the Nanobot; Exoplanets: Stranger than Fiction; Mars: Past, Present, and Future; New Moon Rising: NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter; and The Fascination of Sentient AI in Sci-Fi.

The Science Fair’s capstone event will welcome Bill Nye and Eugene Mirman to Awesome Con for StarTalk Live!
