“Space Stories” at The Explorers Club, October 29

Today’s guest post is written by StarTalk Radio’s Community Manager, Stacey Severn, who is also an advisor to The Explorers Club’s Space Advisory Committee and one of the organizers of the upcoming “Space Stories” event.

Mark Oct. 29, 2016 on your calendars for a special all-day event focusing on the history of human spaceflight at Explorers Club headquarters in New York.

This year’s venue is themed “Out of This World” and will feature astronauts, space-flight participants, mission controllers, a UFO specialist, and a pre-release screening of the documentary “Mission Control,” followed by a Q&A with its producers. Our guests come to us from several missions – Apollo, Soyuz, Space Shuttle, SpaceShipTwo, and New Horizons. The day will include a mix of straight-up talks, “Exploring Legends” interviews by Jim Clash, and panel discussions.

Among confirmed story-tellers are former NASA astronaut and Explorers Club Space Advisory Committee Co-Chair Leroy Chiao, former NASA astronaut and pilot for Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo C.J. Sturckow, Soyuz astronaut Richard Garriott, Explorers Club Space Advisory Committee Co-Chair and Virgin Galactic ticketholder Jim Clash (interviewed by Olympic medalist Sasha Cohen), New Horizons Mission Operations Manager Alice Bowman, UFO expert and Executive Director of MUFON Jan Harzan, and Keith Haviland and Gareth Dodds, producers of Mission Control: The Unsung Heroes of Apollo.
