Revisit StarTalk All-Stars at Star Trek Mission NY

This week on StarTalk All-Stars we are once again boldly going where we went before. Join the Trekkie fun as we revisit our episode about The Science of Star Trek, recorded at the Star Trek Mission: New York 50th Anniversary convention.

To celebrate and get the “science” of Star Trek right, we needed a few Trekkies to take command. Our panel consisted of host and astrophysicist Charles Liu, comic co-host Chuck Nice, Andrew Fazekas, astronomy journalist and author of Star Trek: The Official Guide to Our Universe: The True Science behind the Starship Voyages, and astrophysicist and All-Stars host Summer Ash.

In this episode, we dove into the “science” of Star Trek, and, more specifically, the science that has always bothered our panelists, like the “galactic barrier”, stardates, quantum filaments, gravitons, and more.

You’ll hear discussion on artificial gravity, first contact, SETI, gravitational waves, and black holes. You’ll also learn about the excitement surrounding Proxima b, the Alpha Quadrant, and why the USS Enterprise almost never leaves the Milky Way galaxy.

Whether it be StarTalk Radio, StarTalk All-Stars or Playing with Science, the StarTalk Podcast Network always has a good time in front of our fans. And while this is pretty clear at panels which we record in front of an audience, like this episode, no where is that more apparent than at an actual StarTalk Live! show. Don’t miss your chance to come to our StarTalk Live! at the Kings Theatre on September 18, in Brooklyn, NY. It was recently just announced that our frequent guest, comedian Michael Ian Black, and 2x StarTalk guest and Star Trek alumnus Whoopi Goldberg will be joining Neil and Eugene Mirman on stage that night. Tickets on sale here.

Please join us tomorrow night StarTalk All-Stars at Star Trek Mission NY – The Science of Star Trek at 7pm EDT right here on our website, as well as on our StarTalk All-Stars channels on Apple Podcasts, SoundCloud, Stitcher, Google Play Music, and TuneIn. And if you’re an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 7pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
–Ian Mullen
