Monday, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Chuck Nice Get Deep…Again

Towards the end of last season, we did an episode called Cosmic Queries – The Deep where Neil deGrasse Tyson and comic co-host Chuck Nice answered your questions that probed the deepest parts of the universe. As it turns out, one episode wasn’t enough to answer all the questions we wanted. If you want to listen to Cosmic Queries – The Deep, where we explore higher dimensions, neuroscience, space exploration, and the meaning of life, before tomorrow’s episode you can find it right here.

On this week’s episode of StarTalk Radio, we’re back with Cosmic Queries – The Deep Part II. And we start with the Big Bang. What came first: space or the Big Bang? Neil answers this question and also settles the age-old debate of what came first: the chicken or the egg? This leads Chuck into coming up with a word to describe “something that is nothing.”

Then, we dive into the multiverse theory. You’ll learn where the multiverse theory came from. Neil tells us why quantum physics and Einstein’s general theory of relativity don’t get along nicely. We discuss if light gets spaghettified when it interacts with the event horizon of a black hole. You’ll find out why everything is spherical and curvy in the universe.

Investigate our world being a simulation. If we are in a simulation, how would you explain the weather? Ponder whether life itself was created by the Big Bang. Neil tells us the origin story of life and how it was forged in the hearts of stars. We also look into “backwards” time travel.

Discover more about the mystery behind dark matter. Neil shares why he thinks it should be renamed dark gravity. We discuss the Sun’s light and how it travels to Earth, the Moon, and how the light interacts with both. All that, plus, you’ll learn why time stops at the speed of light.

Please join us tomorrow for Cosmic Queries – The Deep Part II at 3pm ET right here on our website, as well as on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Spotify, Stitcher, and TuneIn. If you’re a StarTalk+ Patron or an All-Access subscriber, you can watch or listen to this episode ad-free at 3pm, too.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
