There probably aren’t going to be many episodes of StarTalk Radio where the topics of conversation include the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, the Jackalope, President Barak Obama, Archimedes, and racist elephants.
But that’s exactly what you’ll get in the conclusion of Neil deGrasse Tyson’s interview with MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman in this Sunday’s episode, Extended Classic: MythBusters (Part 2).
And yes, there’s the “Extended Classic” label again. Which means that this is a repeat, but with 10 minutes of new content at the end. This week, Neil and co-host Chuck Nice answer more of your Cosmic Queries. Neil tackles questions about Modified Newtonian Dynamics, dark gravity, dark matter, the Higgs boson, black holes, Hawking Radiation, and whether you could create a small black hole here on Earth.
If you’ve never heard this episode before, or even if you have, if you’re a fan of the MythBusters and their kind of experimentation, you’ll want to hear them discuss their love of science with Neil.
According to Adam Savage, they never know how something is going to turn out. “Our ignorance is the audience’s ignorance. We’re a genuine experimentation show.” Or, as Jamie puts it, “Science isn’t just for guys in lab coats,” and he explains that they’re just guys who are “posing a question and methodically going about getting an answer.”
Sounds like a pretty great way to approach life, even if you don’t have a TV show.
Listen for yourself Sunday night at 7 pm ET on our website, iTunes, SoundCloud, Stitcher and TuneIn.
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
