Thank you all for your response to our new Cosmic Quips and Clips feature. We’re happy to announce that one of our fans has volunteered to help us out. His name is Dan Perlman and he’s a comedian from New York City. He performs regularly at Stand Up NY in Manhattan and all over New York. You can follow him on Twitter @danjperlman. You can check out a clip of his stand-up here, and although it’s not a Cosmic Quip, it is funny:
Here’s what Dan has to say:
“I’m very excited to join the StarTalk team as their new Comedy Contributor. I’m a great admirer of Dr. Tyson’s work as well as StarTalk Radio, and I’m thrilled to help StarTalk in their mission to merge science and humor. We’ll be curating some of the best science-related comedy in various forms (stand-up, tweets, memes, cartoons) and delivering them to our listeners. We hope this project can help make science more accessible and enjoyable for the public. Join us in our mission by sending us some of your favorites!”
You can send us those favorites by email to CosmicQuips@startalkradio.net.
And now, for your enjoyment, here are some of the Cosmic Quips you sent us on Facebook and Twitter:
Cosmic Quips from our fans on Facebook
TJ Gearin If you shave with Occam’s’ razor will you need shaving cream?
Sean McClish Schrodinger’s Pickup Line: “Hey I just met you, and this theory’s crazy, but here’s my cat, he’s dead maybe.”
Sarah Kozicki Stephen Wright has some great ones. “I bought powdered water but I don’t know what to add to it” or when he’s in an interview and asks “If I’m driving a car at the speed of light and I turn on my headlights, does anything happen?” The interviewer says he/she doesn’t know so Stephen says “Forget then, I don’t want to work for you.” Or how he says sometimes when he’s driving he sticks his head out his car window and smiles for a satellite picture.

And here’s one from Dan:
Dan Perlman @danjperlman I’d rather wait ’til a lot of people walk on the Moon so I know that it’s the “cool” thing to do.

We’ve also added some new videos to our Cosmic Quips playlist on our YouTube Channel. Given the recent news that Iran sent a monkey into space, we thought you’d appreciate our latest addition from from The Ricky Gervais Show called Monkey News Space Chimp. You can watch all our Cosmic Quips and Clips on our playlist here:
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
