Do you love StarTalk?
Can’t get enough of all the space, science, pop culture and comedy that we cram into every episode of the StarTalk podcast and, more recently, the StarTalk TV show on the National Geographic Channel?
You’ll be happy to know about our latest project, StarTalk: Everything You Ever Need to Know About Space Travel, Sci-Fi, the Human Race, the Universe, and Beyond.
Published by National Geographic, the Amazon listing describes it thusly “beautifully illustrated companion to celebrated scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson’s popular podcast and National Geographic Channel TV show is an eye-opening journey for anyone curious about the complexities of our universe.”
We can vouch for that, because we were intimately involved with the project.
And by intimate, I mean, we spent every spare waking moment for months and months getting this book ready.
StarTalk All-Stars host and astrophysicist Charles Liu is the author, I (Jeffrey Lee Simons) am the editor, and Neil describes himself merely as “StarTalk Host” – the understatement of the year, in my opinion. (Note: not every description of the book lists us that way, but that’s the way it was!) And we were backstopped by the editorial and production team at National Geographic… you know, the “National Geographic” – and how cool is that? (How many of us grew up pouring over the latest issue of their magazine, imagining that someday we could be the reporters bringing the world home for everyone to experience?)
So, what will you find in the book?
An awesome array of science topics, all addressed in our own, unique StarTalk style, supported by photos and quotes from your favorite guests, co-hosts and hosts of StarTalk episodes going all the way back to the beginning, and all the way forward to Season 2 of the TV series.
Now, if you are interested in buying your own copy, we would prefer that you do it one of two ways.
That way, you’re helping support StarTalk as much as you possibly can with every purchase… and it doesn’t cost you any more to do it!
You can buy the book, along with a tote bag, or a tote bag and a shirt, on our StarTalk store through DFTBA – and help support StarTalk even more!
And, since we’re solidly in the land of shameless self-promotion, I feel obligated to tell you that this book makes a great gift for the geeks in your life, even if those geeks are you. But it’s also great for people who you want to convert into geeks, so you can train them to talk with you about the latest exoplanet discovery or news about water ice on Mars without them looking at you like you’re a an alien. (And yes, we talk about aliens in the book, too!)
That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
