This week, two things finally happened that we’ve all been waiting for for a long time.

First, we have an official launch date for StarTalk on The Nerdist Channel on YouTube: Nov. 1. (You can subscribe to the Nerdist Channel to get updates on when new StarTalk video episodes will be available.)

And second, we’re happy to announce that this Sunday’s show is StarTalk Live: The Particle Party, Part 1, which was taped live on July 11th, just after scientists at CERN confirmed the discovery of the Higgs boson. And while it may seem like it’s taken nearly as long to prepare this show as it did to find the actual Higgs boson, that’s just because we’ve all been so excited.

And why not? With both astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye the Science Guy, plus an actual CERN physicist who helped find the Higgs, Kyle Cranmer, all talking about the most important and exciting discovery in physics in recent memory, how could it be anything less than spectacular?

And should you worry that the show will descend into impenetrable scientific minutiae, never fear: comic co-host Eugene Mirman, 30 Rock comedian Scott Adsit, and the ever wry and witty author, Sarah Vowell, are on stage to keep the conversation at a level the rest of us can understand.

The podcast of Part 1 of the Particle Party will be available for download this Sunday at 7:00 PM EST, here on the site and from iTunes.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
