This Sunday, there’s no excuse for missing our Extended Classic: A Conversation with God

On the evening of February 2, 2014, people in the United States and around the world were glued in front of their television sets, watching the Seattle Seahawks win their first Super Bowl by crushing the Denver Broncos 43-8.

Coincidentally, Neil deGrasse Tyson’s guest on that night’s StarTalk Radio podcast was actually on many people’s minds: God.

That’s because, at a sporting event of the Super Bowl’s magnitude, God gets referenced constantly. Some players thank him and give him credit for their own performances. Some fans thank him for a play that helps their team, while others curse him for a play that costs them money in the office Super Bowl pool. (Sometimes, it’s the same person thanking and cursing, depending on the way the ball bounces.)

Interestingly, God, who also tweets at @TheTweetOfGod, has his own relationship to sporting events, which he explained to Neil during the interview. He and Neil also talk about the multiverse, ritual sacrifice, quantum physics, string theory, why there are flightless birds, evolution, the fossil record, the Big Bang, relativity, creationism (or creation science, as God likes to call it), and most importantly, whether God knows why bad things happen to good people.

If you missed that podcast, here’s your chance for redemption, and, best of all, it’s “new and improved.”

In addition to the original Conversation with God, this week’s extended classic podcast also includes extra content – God’s Favorites – and a new segment we’re calling “How Tweet It Is” where Neil and Bill Nye the Science Guy dig deeper into some of Neil’s most notorious or controversial tweets.

Since there’s no Super Bowl this Sunday (in fact, the season doesn’t even start until Sept. 10), you have no excuse this time. Join us Sunday, August 30 at 7:00 PM ET on our website, iTunes, Stitcher and SoundCloud.

God will know if you don’t.

That’s it for now. Keep Looking Up!
